Typical Wedding Day Timeline

So you just got engaged and your curious to know what your wedding day could look like.

Check out our sample timeline below to see what a typical wedding day timeline looks like when you book us as your hair and makeup team.

Arrival on your Wedding Day

You can expect us to always show up at least 15 minutes early to the wedding venue, hotel, home or wherever you are getting ready.

The extra 15 minutes gives us time to find the perfect spot to set up our hair and makeup stations.

We will need ample table or counter space, don’t worry too much about where the best light is, we carry a full professional set up with our own light, chair and extension cords.

We’ll also need access to a sink so we can wash our hands, other than that, we’ll have everything we need to complete your beauty services.

Morning Wedding Timeline

Let’s say you have an 11am ceremony, gathering or tea time, having you all ready by 9:45am or 10am gives you and your bridal party extra time to get dressed and take photos before the clock hits 11am.

If your getting married at a different location than where you are getting ready, we should start even earlier so you have time for travel.

Evening Wedding Timeline

If you are having an evening wedding and want to catch the sunset, this is what your hair and makeup timeline could look like.

Keep in mind the time of year will depend on what time the sun sets, so going over the perfect ready time with your wedding planner and photographer is key for a smooth wedding day.

Large Wedding Party Timeline

Here’s what your wedding day timeline could look like if you have a large bridal party.

We have 15 amazing artists on our team so we can get large parties finished in a shorter amount of time.

This timeline shows 4 team members at a wedding, additional artists are available upon request.

Important Timeline Details

Attention to detail doesn’t just go into our hair and makeup applications, we pay special attention to all of our pre-booking details so we can create the best beauty timeline for your wedding day.

We’ll schedule in a cushion before your ceremony so you have time to get dressed, take photos, snack, celebrate, you name it! It’s ALWAYS better to have more time, than not enough time.

A New Years Wedding at Olde Dobbin Station

Ryanne and her closest ladies were a joy to pamper! We went for a blushing bridal makeup look and natural makeup for her bridesmaids.

Lashes and some sparkles

These lashes were perfect for giving Ryanne that sexy almond shaped eye, almost like a cat-eye without the eyeliner.

And then a little sparkle on the eyes to give her that stand out perfect bridal makeup look.

The lips

On the lips, one of my favorite bridal lip colors, The Balm Sincere.

This is a creamy applying liquid lipstick that dries to a beautiful mauve, dusty rose kind of lip color.

Honeymoon makeup kit

The wedding is over and now you’re going on your honeymoon, here’s how you can make a makeup kit so small it can fit in your pocket!

The best part? You can customize it!

You can go from all this…to these cute little things! Aren’t they adorable?

I get such a sweet sense of satisfaction just looking at these babies.

I’m a sucker for makeup organization. Even though these cuties are small, they hold a TON!

What's in my makeup organizers

Just look at all those different colors in my hand!

Depending on the container you have, will determine how many different products you can fill it up with.

The ones I got are called Bella, they have 16 mini sections.

So far, here’s what I’ve got in my 3 containers still with room to fill:

cream blush, color correctors, concealers, eyeshadow base, foundation, lipsticks, eyebrow pomade, gel eye liner and brow wax.

I also decided to condense a larger Vueset into the cute smaller one, I love how it turned out!

Products you can put in your custom makeup kit?

Pretty much anything cream can go in your Vueset, just make sure it’s not too liquidy.

Here are some things you can add into your makeup organizer:

Covid-19 precautions

So I’m sure your curious to know what we’re doing differently to keep us both safe in the current time.

We take the health and safety of our team and clients very seriously.

We want to keep you and our families safe.

Sit back, relax and check out what we’re doing to stay sanitary during your hair and makeup appointment.

Staying educated

Our team is staying up-do date on the latest sanitation practices.

Masks

Our team will wear a mask 100% of the time we are with you, some of us may also wear a face shield or protective glasses.

We are happy to wear gloves if you request. We ask you wear a mask as well until we start your service.

Sanitation

We wash/sanitize our hands before and after each client.
Our tools and supplies are all cleaned and sanitized for every client.

Our chairs and counters are sanitized between every client.

We use disposable tools when we can such as, mascara wands and lip applicators.

Studio space

Along with all the steps we take listed above, we also require all person’s entering our studio to wash their hands at the sink directly across from our studio.

We are currently allowing a maximum of 1 guest in our studio at a time, masks are required for everyone entering the space.

How We Create The Perfect Makeup Look For a Wedding.

So, you need makeup for a wedding, we’re here for you! Our goal, as a team, is to create a look that speaks to your personal style and soul.

So, if your everyday makeup look is natural, we wouldn’t suggest shying too far away from that.

We want you to feel like the best version of YOU!

Think of it like enhancing your features, not changing them.

So how do we create the makeup look for a wedding

First, have inspirational photos? Send them over!

Look at photos with your same hair color, or a similar color.
Look at photos of hair with similar length as you, remember, most photos have been photoshopped and might have hair extensions making the hair thicker and longer.
If you have any hair accessories or a veil, bring those with you to your trial so we can play with them.
For makeup, look up ideas for weddings in the same season as your wedding (for example, if your wedding is in the fall, lots of brides like to use a maroon lip colors).
Save a few different makeup looks that speak to you. Maybe you like the eyes in one photo, and the lip color in another, so save em’ both!

Communication

Next, when it comes to your trial day, be open and willing to communicate freely with us.
One of the only things you have left after your wedding is your wedding photos.
If you aren’t happy with your hair and makeup, you won’t be happy with your photos.
It’s a blessing to be part of your special day, so we want to make your bridal vision come true!
We are here to create the look of your dreams!
Now, let’s make that dream come true!
So, if you look and see something you would like to adjust, let us know and we’ll switch it up!
If you’d like a little less blush or maybe a lighter/darker lip color let us know, those are easy fixes!
You won’t hurt our feelings, we are here to help, adjust and create!

After your trial

We always ask our brides to take lots of photos after your trial.
Try taking photos both indoor and outdoor on the front and back camera of your phone.
You can also take photos with your photographer to see how the makeup shows on camera.
We want to make sure you love your hair and makeup both on and off-camera. See something you want to change?
Send us your requests so we can add them to our notes.

Do’s and Dont’s Before Your Wedding Day

We have some recommendations for what to do and what not to do in the weeks leading up to your wedding, check them out, you might be surprised!

Experimenting with New Skincare Products

We suggest not try anything new on your face in the 2 months leading up to your wedding.

Here me out!

When you get a facial, your skin is being “deep cleaned” which can cause all the impurities in your skin to come to the surface which then we see acne!

I know what your thinking, well dang, that’s no fun!

Maybe you wanted to have a special spa day to pamper yourself right before your big day, no worries!

You can totally do that! Just try to stick to a facial you have done in the past so (hopefully) there are no unwanted skin surprises.

Microdermabrasion’s are a great way to (gently) get all the dead skin off your face to ensure a super smooth makeup application.

If you suffer from acne scars, micro-needling could be an option for you to help clear up those scars, but seeing results takes time so we recommend starting those about a year before your wedding.

Chat with your facialist to find out what’s best for you and your skin.

Not Drinking Water

You would be surprised at how many amazing benefits water has for your body!

Not only does it detox your body (and it costs next to nothing), it can also help with acne issues and discoloration.

I had an issue with dark under eye circles even though I got enough sleep. So I did a little experiment, I drank tons of water for a month and to my surprise my dark circles started to lighten up! Woohoo!

I took my body weight / 2 and BAM that’s the magic number.

If I drank coffee or tea, I offset that with an additional 8 ounces of water.

I also noticed a ton of natural energy!

Try it out and let me know if you notice a difference like I did. Your body will thank you!

Waxing & Threading

We love a good groomed brow, we recommend getting any waxing or threading done 1 week before your wedding.

Then, in the days leading up to your wedding you can touch up by plucking as needed.

When your skin has been freshly waxed or threaded, your skin can be red, irritated or even a bit swollen depending on how sensitive your skin is, waxing can even cause breakouts.

Makeup tends to not stick as well to skin when it has just been waxed.

And for heavens sake, do not cheat on your trusted brow connoisseur!

First Spray Tan

We love spray tans, when they are fresh and done correctly.

We don’t recommend trying your first spray tan right before your wedding, instead test it out a couple months prior to your date.

This will give you time to make sure you love the look and if not, you still have time to get rid of it.

There are tons of different spray tan formulas out there so give yourself enough time to find the formula that works best for your skin.

Popping Pimples

Trust me, I know it’s tempting, but try your best to refrain from popping your pimples.

Popping pimples can cause scabs which can be difficult to cover, discoloration is no problem at all to cover with makeup, but texture can be tougher to camouflage.

Besides making a scab, you can make the matter worse from the potential oil and dirt on your fingers.

We recommend doing your best to leave the area alone and let it run its course.

Try a trusted acne lotion instead of popping it, our favorite is by Image Skin Care, but be careful, it sure is strong!

Stress Less!

Your wedding is a day you have been dreaming of for quite some time now!

So take it all in and enjoy it! It’s easy to get caught up in minor details such as cake, flowers or table décor but remember, what matters most is you and your love are tying the knot!

You two lovebirds are going to spend the rest of your lives together, everything else is extra.

Your wedding day will be over in the blink of an eye, so be sure to enjoy every moment of it!

Now, are you thinking “what the heck is airbrush makeup and why is it better to use it on my wedding day?”

Or you might be thinking, “I’ve had airbrush done by another artist before and it didn’t last, or it felt heavy on the skin.”

If that’s the case, hear me out. Airbrush makeup is our absolute favorite type of makeup for our humid climate, so much so, that we’ve chosen to make it our specialty.

Climate

As a native Houstonian, I (and our team) fully understand the not so fun weather that comes with living in (or visiting) Texas.

Whether you reside here, or you’re having a destination wedding here, get ready for the humidity & heat!

You don’t want your face makeup to melt off as soon as you walk outside, let’s be honest, that would suck.

So, what type of makeup will withstand the Texas heat?

Airbrush makeup!

Comfortable

Our way of applying airbrush makeup makes it feel as if almost nothing is on your skin.

Our formula is super lightweight and not to mention, it’s super refreshing when being applied to your face.

Remember those refreshing misters you walked through at the amusement park and how good it felt?

That’s what it feels like!

gentle

We have tons of brides that have sensitive skin or just don’t wear makeup daily.

When we apply airbrush, we aren’t using a brush or a sponge to apply your foundation, instead we are using an airbrush gun that will “mist” the foundation onto your skin, so no tugging on your sensitive skin, applying your makeup this way is also a lot more sanitary!

"Wedding proof"

What in the world does “wedding proof” mean?

Usually on your wedding day you might deal with at least one, if not all the following:

Crying (tears of joy of course), sweating (from busting those moves on the dance floor) and most of all, you need your makeup to look perfect from morning to night!

Luckily, airbrush makeup can withstand all of that! Airbrush is waterproof, sweat-proof, cry proof and lasts 16+ hours.

Story Time

One of our brides told us she got her trial makeup to last for two days!

She got her trial done on a Friday afternoon, left early Saturday morning on a flight to Florida for her bachelorette party, and didn’t remove her makeup til late Saturday night.

And she said it still looked good! Woo!
